What is Field Emergence?

Field emergence is the percentage of seeds that successfully emerge as seedlings under actual field conditions. It reflects seed quality, sowing depth, soil moisture, temperature, and field management.

Field Emergence (%) =
(Number of seedlings emerged ÷ Number of seeds sown) × 100

Interpretation Guide:
• ≥ 85% → Excellent crop establishment
• 70–84% → Acceptable, but may need improvement
• < 70% → Poor emergence (check seed, moisture, depth, pests)
